Menopause

You indicated that you either have a history with or are concerned about menopause. Whether you are approaching menopause or have already reached it, the permanent end of menstruation and fertility is a major transition in every woman's life. Menopause is defined as the one-year anniversary of a woman's final menstrual period and the natural decline in the hormones produced in the ovaries. In the United States, menopause occurs for most women at about age 51. Physical and mental symptoms are common, but every woman responds differently to menopause.

While menopause is not an illness, many treatments are available for its possible symptoms, ranging from lifestyle adjustments to hormone replacement therapy.

Try the following natural remedies and herbs for menopause symptoms:

  • Soy foods
  • Flaxseed
  • Dong quai
  • Black cohosh
  • Vitamin E
  • B vitamins
  • Evening primose oil or black currant oil
